Prompted by genuine interest and thoughtful questions, business leaders will often quickly share their wisdom, insights, understanding of relevant data, strategic direction, and key operational goals.
Rather than asking for a "wish list" of training needs, focus first on exploring their business goals.
Next, target a particular goal and determine the performance that has the greatest impact on achieving it.
Then, after some contemplation and design thinking, confirm learning outcomes that will improve target performance.
